Davidoff Royal Release

A few years ago, Davidoff launched the Royal line with the Royal Salomone and Royal Robusto, which were limited releases that sparked considerable interest among enthusiasts. The latest release from this line seems even more exclusive. The cigar is easily distinguished by its royal blue bands and the "Release" label, setting it apart from its predecessors. While the name may be similar, the blend is entirely new, with only the wrapper’s Dominican origin revealed; the rest of the blend remains a closely guarded secret. This new release comes in two sizes: an 8.25 x 57 ring gauge Salomone and a 5.5 x 55 ring gauge Robusto, each promising a distinctive experience.

Visually, this cigar is striking with its dark brown wrapper, which features some mottling and a golden sheen. The royal blue, white, and gold band clearly marks it as a special offering from Davidoff. The wrapper has an oily texture and a slight toothiness, which hints at the cigar's quality and craftsmanship.

Upon lighting, the cigar immediately delivers an intense sweetness that is hard to miss. As it progresses, the flavors evolve, introducing notes of leather, wood, and spice. Further into the smoke, hints of green herbs and the signature Davidoff mustiness start to emerge, creating a complex and enjoyable profile. The strength of the cigar begins at the upper end of medium, offering a robust yet balanced experience.

Davidoff’s renowned attention to detail is evident in the flawless draw and the relatively straight burn line throughout the smoking session. The cigar’s construction reflects the brand’s commitment to high standards, ensuring a consistent and enjoyable smoke.

The flavor profile includes copper notes that might remind some of the Opus X, a well-known Dominican puro, suggesting a substantial amount of Dominican tobacco in the blend. This cigar stands out as an excellent choice, delivering a rich and satisfying experience for those who appreciate a high-quality smoke.
